I recently directed, shot and edited a film for the BBC about the wave of murders that have made Cape Town one of the most dangerous places in the world.

Myself and colleague Vauldi Carelse spent a week around the most dangerous parts of the Cape Flats – we met the police, family members of victims and filmed the army on patrol.
We centered our film around one incident – the murder of five people in a shack – and we explored the ripple effect that such an incident has on the community.
It was an important and powerful film to make.
For those interested in the technology – I shot it on my old A7S mark 1 (with a little help from my a6500) and edited it using Apple FCPX.
